2 Creative Ways to Start Designing your Most Epic 2017

This is Part 3 in a series of posts I’ll be sharing over December and January around designing your most epic New Year. It’s all about vision boards and wish lists.

If you’re new to the series, you can read the earlier posts here:

The Powerful 3-Stage Strategy For Designing Your New Year

Let the Creative Juices Flow

This next stage is fun. You can now begin to put your ideas to paper. Just keep in mind the questions you answered back in Parts 1 and 2.

Don’t be afraid to bring out the butcher paper or the markers to create one of the following:

  • A written Wish List; or
  • A Vision Board.

Which one is best for you? It really depends on how you prefer to work. If you’re visual you may prefer a vision board. If you love a good list, then try out the Wish List.

How to Create a Vision Board

The purpose of a vision board is to assist you in recognising those things from your external environment that will enable you to realise your dreams.

What you set your mind and intent to, you create in your life. This is law. Energy flows where the mind goes.

This is why it is fundamental to have a clear vision for the life that you want to live. If you’re not clear about the direction you’re heading in, your life will be muddled and lack clarity.

Envisioning Your Most Epic Life

Before you sit down to design your vision board, I want you to set the intent. With lots of kindness and openness, ask yourself what it is that you want. Just take a moment to sit with that. Write it down if you need to.

Put some tunes on to create the right vibe. Make sure there are no external distractions occurring around you and ensure that you’ll be left alone for an hour or so.

Visualisation

When you’re ready, take yourself to a time in your future, a time that hasn’t happened yet.

As you arrive at that time, I want you to notice what you see in your mind’s eye.

What is it you see, what do you hear and how do you feel at this time in your future? What changes have you created in your life, who are you with, what are you wearing and doing?

Take the time to breathe through this visualisation, really enjoy the space and once you begin, your mind will find the images you need to include on your vision board that will create your reality!

This project should be a lot of fun. You’re looking for pictures that express your inner passions, personality and deepest desires. What is it that lights you up? What is it that puts a smile on your face, warms your heart and gets you “in flow”?

Materials

  • A3 piece of paper (I think that A4 is too small to hold all of your dreams!)
  • Magazines, printed photos.
  • Scissors, glue, markers
  • Your intuition and your imagination!

You can put aside a few hours to make a vision board at home or you can attend a Vision Workshop.

Wish List Template

If you’ve completed Parts 1 and 2 of this series, you should find this exercise really easy. Have a read over your earlier answers as they’ll form the basis of your Wish List.

Write a list of everything that you want to bring into your existence. You want to write it out in the present tense so that your mind thinks it has already come into existence.

For example, if you want bring a sense of peace and groundedness to your life next, you would write, “I am grounded at all times.”

You should incorporate the following into your Wishlist:

  • The experiences that you want to have;
  • The person that you want to be;
  • The people that you want in your life;
  • The life circumstances that you’d like for yourself;
  • The things you’d like to have; and
  • The impact that you want to have on this world.

I’d suggest that you start with a long list and then refine it down to your top 10 wishes.

Once you have created your Vision Board or your Wish List you’ll be ready to start turning your dreams into reality. After all, you won’t ever manifest those dreams unless you’re acting on them. ACTION is key! I cannot emphasise this enough.

We’ll be discussing actions and tasks in the coming weeks.

Let me know how you go and feel free to share your wish lists and vision boards with me.
